Green Mind is the fourth studio album by Dinosaur Jr and their first for major label Sire Records. The album was primarily recorded by J Mascis, following the departure of bassist Lou Barlow, marking a new era for the band with its polished production and more melodic approach.

About the Album

Green Mind is Dinosaur Jr.’s fourth studio album, released in 1991 and marking their first release after bassist Lou Barlow’s departure and their debut on a major label. Essentially a J Mascis solo effort, he played most instruments with drummer Murph appearing on only three tracks. The album cover features Joseph Szabo’s photograph “Priscilla, Jones Beach, 1969” from and taken from his book of photographs, Almost Grown, depicting a child smoking a cigarette.
