Recorded at Bisquiteen Studios in Amherst, Massachusetts, it showcases the band’s ability to balance their trademark heavy sound with melodic songwriting, particularly evident in tracks like “I Want You to Know” and the epic “I Don’t Wanna Go There.”
The album was recorded at J Mascis’s Bisquiteen Studios in Amherst, with longtime collaborator John Agnello.

The album is often cited as one of their strongest works, proving that the band could not only recapture their classic sound but push it in new directions.
Notes
The edition of the album came with a free white-vinyl 7 inch with the songs “I Don’t Wanna Go There” and “Tarpit”, recorded live for Pitchfork TV. The original European version had a pressing error – the volume was 3dB too loud. The European label PIAS Recordings recalled the affected copies to exchange them with correct ones
